Exodus 14: 1-16
Psalm 46:1-4
Philippians 4: 6-8/13.
The children of Israel were coming out of the land of bondage with a
lot of the treasures of the land of Egypt freely given to them. However, the
Pharaoh realizing his error decided that he had made a grave mistake and what
he had done was give away his slaves. With that said he ordered his might army
to go after the children of Israel to carry them back into bondage.
The Israelites whereby this time at the red sea with seemingly no
available way forward. To the left and the right where two great mountain
ranges and now getting closer to them was the mightiest army in the land. The
people where now pretty much loosing faith and cried unto Moses have you carried
us into this place to die; we were better off in Egypt under the task masters.
Moses was reminded by God that God would fight for his children (Exodus
14:14) God commanded Moses to command the people of God to go forward however
he should lift up the rod in his hand stretch out thy hand over the sea and
divide it. (Exodus 14:16) It was indeed very miraculous that as soon as Moses
stood still, and that God began to work, and the people walked across the sea
floor on dry land. The victory was not complete yet because after all the
Israelites were safe God commanded Moses to stretch out the rod once again but
this time to allow the waters to close. The Egyptians by this time were in full
flight coming across the sea floor like a mighty flood but as Moses followed
the move of God the waters returned to there place and destroyed the soldiers.
Its now that the words of the Psalmist David echo across the pages of
history to me that the Lord is my refuge and strength, a very present help in
times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) So no fear can stand before him that sits high
and looks low because he is in charge of all the earth and its inhabitance
because the lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. (Psalm
46:11)
The thing about standing still is that you will have to wait while God
is working. The question becomes what you will be doing while you are waiting.
The Apostle Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of the God so that we will
be able to STAND…..still and watch God work.
In this time of Covid19 and all the disastrous happenings
such as a seeming reemergence of the Bubonic Plague and an earthquake which hit
Jamaica at 9:05 am July 13, 2020 the word of God says we should be careful for
nothing, so we should not be worried but rather our focus should be on those
things which are above and of good report because we can do all things through
Christ who strengthens us. (Philippians 4: 13)
